The land of the rising sun
In March 2017, I was able to visit Japan, primarily Tokyo and Kyoto. It was a relatively quick trip. We were hoping to see the cherry blossoms bloom but spring came late that year and we only able to catch a few glimpses of the famed cherry blossom trees. It was cold and rainy and heavily overcast most of the time. Even so, there is some magical and fascinating about Japan.
I especially loved shooting the streets at night. The combination of neon lights coupled with the wet reflections caused by the rain made everything look magical. It reminded me of the first blade runner movie and that's how I processed these images below.
